The Ministry of St. Paul’s

A Call To Serve…

St. Paul’s has a rich heritage of lay ministry, which we continue to affirm and strengthen. Many members of the congregation serve as lectors, lay readers, chalice ministers, members of the altar guild, and several share their gift of music on Sundays and for special services throughout the church year.

We currently offer Sunday School for our youngest parishioners on the 4th Sundays of every month. Our program is tailored to toddlers and preschoolers. During the liturgy of the word, the children go with two adults to our classrooms where we offer a lesson based craft and a snack. They return in time to greet the congregation during the peace and then participate in the Holy Eucharist. We are committed to the safety of our children which is why we require two teachers to be present at all times and those teachers have training in Safeguarding our Children. We are currently in need of acolytes nine years through adult to serve as acolytes.

We have a vibrant music ministry and are blessed to have a number of musicians who offer their gift of music to St. Paul’s. Our music style varies from the traditional music of our Hymnal to more contemporary pieces with guitars. At various times we are are treated to Lute music of medieval period to modern soloists. We have a mid-week music ministry where member and non-members alike travel to the area’s assisted living homes to sing with the residents. We provide the lyrics and encourage everyone to sing and ham it up with us. The wonderful part of music at St. Paul’s is that we are small enough that everyone makes a joyful noise as we all join in God’s choir.

Our Parish House is used by a number of community groups for a variety of activities which include AA meetings, board meetings, piano recitals, Halloween parties and other seasonal gatherings. The facility is a wonderful resource for us and for our community.

St. Paul’s continues to be a visible presence in our community, offering worship and Christian education in our unique Anglican/ Episcopal tradition. We carry on the traditions of a missionary church and diocese here in the Uintah Basin.
